Feature & Follow #4

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’sView and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!
I am loving this feature and meeting so many new people and wonderful blogs. This week Question is.
Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

I have so many book crushes but one set really comes to mind. The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward. Why if you have ever read this series you would see why the men and I will say women are so hot. I could easily reread this series over and over. John is my favorite but i couldn't find a picture to suit what I think he should be so I did find pictures of a man who I think could play a few different ones in this series. I love him and here is who I picture playing a few different characters in my mind.

Vin Diesel is who I picture when I read the BDB books. He is so hot and fine. The only reason I can't picture him as John is because he would lose that sexy voice. Who did you pick? If you stop by let me know and I will gladly return the follow or just stop by and see what hottness you picked.

Fallen From Grace - Cover Reveal

Hi everyone! I am taking part in the cover reveal for Fallen From Grace by K Anne Raines. It is very pretty and I can't wait to show you. First a little about the book.

Book Blurb
Seventeen year-old Grace grows up knowing she’s different, but she always attributed it to a mother who didn’t want her, a father who abandoned her, and a curse that sets her apart. Despite those struggles, her grandfather remained her rock and confidant. Her life irrevocably shatters the day her grandfather dies.

The day of his funeral sets off a chain of events, making Grace question everything she’s ever known to be true, and as a result, who she can truly trust. She inherits his house, part of his money, his Guardian and something that ties them together.

Just before Grace’s 18th birthday, she is thrust into a world she couldn’t fathom existed and does everything she can to thwart the destiny suddenly forced upon her. She’s been chosen for greatness, but at what cost? With eyes now open, she must choose to either be Chosen, or watch those around her suffer the consequences.

Torn between the man who’s come to protect her and the one sent to destroy her, she teeters on the edge of decision, trying to come to grips with who she is, what she wants and what all of that means for her, those she loves and the rest of mankind.

Fond Memories #1

Hey all we all have those books that we have Fond Memories of. The ones that you hold dear to your heart whether it is because you grew up reading them or because they may have been a gift from a loved, maybe it's because you met the Author. For whatever reason they hold fond memories. Each week I will post a book or series that holds those fond memories for me. This week there could only be one pick to start out with. Most of us have read this series or at least heard of the books.

The Sweet Valley Books by Francine Pascal. I know I grew up reading these books and I have to admit sometimes I still will pick one up just to revisit that world and the characters we grew to love.
Sweet Valley Twins and Friends how many of you read this series or your children did? I hope when my littlest one gets older she reads it.
Sweet Valley High Here we got to see the girls starting to really grow up and some of the stuff they were dealing with we were dealing with as well.
Sweet Valley University The girls are in College and making a lot of grown up decisions.
Sweet Valley Senior Year. I really liked this series. The girls and their friends all seemed to change in this but I really enjoyed seeing this side of them.
Sweet Valley Confidential When I saw this book was coming out I had to read it. I wanted to know where he girls were in their life. I will say I was so disappointed by this book. If you read all the other series you were expecting so much more and better for the people you grew to love.

There is several more spinoffs and side books but you get the idea of the books. Did you read any of these? What book or series holds a fond memory for you?

Resisting Fate Cover Reveal

Hey all I am very excited to be a part of the cover reveal for Resisting Fate. Why because for one the cover is beautiful and two the book is by one of my fellow Admins at Paranormal Reads Marie De La Rosa. I love Marie and here is a little about her.

With a passion for reading and writing, she excelled in Advanced Placement classes during high school but always considered writing a hobby up until now. Marie is perhaps more well-known for her reviews on the Paranormal Reads and Lunar Haven Reviews & Designs book blogs.
Marie is currently working on her debut YA Paranormal novel Resisting Fate, book one in The Right of Blood Series. The series is set to be released in 2013.
When not reviewing or working on Graphic Design projects, Marie can be found at her day job, out and about with a camera in her hand, or working to finish her book. Look for more information to come in the future.

Series: Book One in The Right of Blood Series

Author: Marie De La Rosa
Published: Coming in 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Art: Claudia McKinney - PhatPuppy Creations

Synopsis:
Eighteen-year-old Araina was your normal teenager or at least she believed that to be true. She had only two things on her mind: graduating high school and getting away from home to start a life all on her own. But after a tragic accident claims the life of her mother, Araina is left dumbfounded and finds herself on a much different path: enrolling in the local college in Austin. Convinced that her mother’s death was no accident, she becomes obsessed with finding out the truth, and becomes disconnected from everything around her in the process.
That is … until she meets Lucca.
Lucca is the captain of the Resistance: an elite group sworn to protect Araina. He knows the truth about her mother’s death and the future attempts that will be made on Araina’s life due to her being the great-granddaughter of Leto, mother of Artemis and Apollo, which is why it is important he follow the one rule given to him: Don’t get too attached.
It is his job to gain her trust and somehow reveal her true lineage and what the fates have in store for her. Araina is about to be thrown into a world she never knew and will have to come to terms with the role she will play in the Resistance.
Will she stand up and fight or will she lose the one thing everyone has been trying to protect?
Her Life.

Excerpt:
He walked the path back to the house they were using as their headquarters at the moment; though it wasn’t much on the outside the inside made up plenty for it. As he walked in through the door he stopped and looked to the right to stare at his own reflection. Heavy bags hung under his eyes, his tan skin was much duller and his black hair a mess.
“You need to get rest. Huntir and I have everything set up so take this opportunity to gather your strength. Wearing yourself out like this will not be beneficial in guarding her.”
Lucca turned to his older brother Matteo, surprised that he had arrived so soon. “I know, I will go take a shower and get rest, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.” He passed Matteo but not before laying his hand on his brother's shoulder as if silently reassuring him not to worry and that he was fine. Though his brother had pointed out his need for rest, his mind was running around with too many
unanswered questions with no way to solve them. But one question he kept going back to was always the same, the one that would matter most in the end.
When he finally reveals the truth to her will she rise from her sorrow and be the savior they needed her to be? Or will she turn away and go into hiding like her mother did and suffer the same fate? As he got to the top of the stairs, without turning around he asked, “Why did you arrive ahead of schedule brother?” he waited for his brother to reply, a heavy silence floated between the two. He did not expect the next few words that came out of his brother’s mouth.
“We have verification on who killed Aella.”

Now here is the stunning cover.

Be sure to check Marie out and be on the lookout for when Resisting Fate releases.

Exiled - Review

Exiled (Immortal Essence, #1)Exiled by RaShelle Workman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Venus is an alien princess who is on the verge of getting her immortality. All she has to do is finish her trip and when she returns it will be done. Something goes horribly wrong however and someone sends her to earth. Without her immortality she has a week before Earth will kill her. She can't return home because someone has framed her for the murder of her best friend. She isn't alone her servant Zaren has followed her and vows to help her. The gods give her one week to make a boy named Michael find his true love. If he can do so she can return and get her immortality. The only problem is Michael is an abused person who doesn't trust anyone and seems to care for Venus. A another alien is on the loose and is killing people. A strange government office seems to think Venus has done it and will stop at nothing to see what she is made of even from the inside. With just days left Venus doesn't seem to be any closer to finishing her mission.

The characters were all good in their own way. Venus gets built up and described to were you feel you know just what she looks like and you get to understand what she goes through. Michael is so complex you don't know whether to like him or not. Yes it is understood he suffered abuse but he seems on the verge of going to the darker side of humanity. Zaren is the character I liked most. Even when Venus set him free and told him to return home he stayed to help her. You can tell he loves Venus even if she doesn't see or ignores it.

I enjoyed this book from page one. You get to see what it is like for the alien princess and you really get a feel for her. When Venus is sent to Earth you see just how much she changes. On her home planet she is strong while on Earth she is weak do to the atmosphere killing her. It really gets her down so it doesn't make you feel like she is acting like a helpless female. There is so much goes on in this book. You get to see love grow. Betrayal from someone close to Venus and you never know what is going to happen. You even get the cattiness of a group of teens that seems like it could happen. The world building is great and you really can see it play out as you read. It is different from other books lately because it doesn't have the usual paranormal creatures. It is about aliens and has some mythology to it. I really enjoyed it and about to start the next book I need to see what happens next.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

Q: Are you thankful for a fellow blogger? Tell us about him or her.

I am thankful for several bloggers but one that stands out is Sabrina @ Sabrina's Paranormal Palace. She help me get started in blogging at Paranormal Reads and when I said I wanted my own blog she was a hundred percent behind me. Even when I just need someone to talk to she is there for me. Even if we do argue over which one of us a fictional character may belong to lol.

Native American Cover Love

Hey everyone! As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the US today I thought what better cover love for ths week than Native American books. These are a few covers I have come across that have Native American themes. I hope you enjoy them.

I hope you enjoy these beautiful covers! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Thankful Book Lovers with Ashlyn Chase

Hi everyone!! As the holidays are almost upon us a few of us bloggers wanted to get together and ask a few authors the top ten things they are thankful/grateful for. It may be a list of what they are thankful for in general or what they are thankful for about their books. I have the honor of having the super sweet and talented Ashlyn Chase give me her top things she is thankful for as an author. I will also post my top ten things I am thankful for books for.

Ashlyn Chase's 10 Things I'm thankful for as an author!
1. I'm grateful to the woman who handed me a romance novel without telling me what genre it was. I was caring for my terminally ill parents, and she knew I needed a healthy escape. I was halfway into the sequel before I realized this engrossing, intelligent, well-written book was a romance novel! The only one I had read before was a '70's bodice ripper. I hated it and vowed never to read another one.

2. I'm grateful romance novels have evolved from 'damsels in distress' to modern kick-ass, take no prisoners, heroines.

3. I'm grateful the heroes are still awesome. (grin)

4. I'm grateful I needed to take some time off after my parents died. It gave me a chance to try my hand at writing a book. Something I had always dreamed of doing.

5. I'm grateful my husband willingly took on the bills and let me pursue my dream full-time.

6. I'm grateful to the first e-publishers who offered me contracts. (My first book received 3 offers! I'm also grateful for the ego-boost that resulted.)

7. I'm grateful to the publisher I chose to go with. I learned so much about the business and promotion side of publishing--both from the publisher and the other authors.

8. I'm grateful for the many author friends I've made over the years. Many of them critiqued my early attempts, unselfishly offered their knowledge and assistance, and inspired me by example.

9. I'm extremely grateful for my fans. It's a priviledge to share my kooky sense of humor with people who love it. I'm so glad I can provide the kind of healthy escape that was given to me.

10. I'm grateful for computers--despite the many times I get frustrated with them--for making this writing thing so much easier than typing, copying, and mailing manuscripts, old-school style. I'll toss in my gratitude for the Internet that has made communication with the outside world so easy and enjoyable.

In short...I love my job. How lucky am I? Please be on the lookout for my next novel, Flirting Under a Full Moon. It's available for pre-order now. Judging from the amount of "likes" at B&N.com, my fans are eagerly awaiting it.

My top ten things I am thankful about books/blogging.
1. All the great stories and ideas the authors write for us. They each create new worlds for us to dive into.

2. The authors all of them. Whether they are big or small they are all still great to me and I love to give each of them a chance.

3. That when reading a series I always feel like that I am reading about my friends. I love seeing them again and again and following their life even if it is in a fictional book. All us book people can relate to where we feel close to a character and don't want them to go away.

4.All the beautiful covers! I know you shouldn't judge a book or pick one up for the cover alone but i love a pretty one. Seriously look at Ashlyn's cover I would love to have just covers like that beauty so I could make wallpaper out of them. How cool would that be.

5. All the super people I have met that love books. I love that even if we might not like the same book we can still talk civil about them.

6. My teenage daughter loves reading and books give us something to talk about together. Even if we don't agree sometimes. Even her friends ask if I have a book they might like.

7. When I had an emotional time this year my hubby went out to a library sale and brought me back bags and bags of books and said here find an escape at least for a little while and the books help me do that.

8. All the authors who have talked to me. I used to be so afraid to talk to them and now I don't mind to send them an email asking them questions or praising their books. Most of them reply to me and I always get a thrill when I hear back from them.

9. All the books and authors I have discovered since blogging I wouldn't have known about other wise.

10. My girls over at Paranormal Reads. They gave me a chance to do more with my love of books when they made me an admin. They have become more than just my book buddies. I can always go to them when I have a problem other than books or a place to rant. I love these girls.

The Gathering Darkness - Review

The Gathering DarknessThe Gathering Darkness by Lisa Collicutt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review. Brooke is sent Deadwich from Boston cause she can't seem to stay out of trouble. Sent to live with her uncle and aunt she is feeling like her life us over. She soon begins to make some new friends including her cousin. She also has an immediate connection with a boy name Marcus. One problem with Marcus is his brother seems to think Brooke and he are a couple. Soon all her new friends begin to turn against her except Marcus. As they grow closer danger seems to be getting closer as well. Someone doesn't want them together or Brooke to live. As they begin to unravel the mystery they discover many things about their past and the witch hunting them.

Brooke is a good character. She has done wrong and been in trouble but after being down for a short while she tries to move on with her life. Even when her new friends turn on her she still moves on. Marcus is a great male character. He seem broody and dark but in truth this guy is a sweetheart. I love him and the things he does to show Brooke he cares.

The book did start a little slow at first but once it took off I was hooked. I did not want to put it down. It has witches and even some fairies in it that make it a tad different and great. The romance is so sweet and true you can't help to fall in love as the characters do. I love the plot and how smoothly it flows. Very easy to read and I really didn't want it to end. it has plenty of action so if that is something you love you will get that as well. As the characters past lives start to unravel it really makes you know more and feel more for each of the characters even the bad ones. If you are looking for a magical, true love story with lots of goodness to enchant you pick this book up.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and she's in "his" world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren's relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make... unless someone makes it for her..

That is just a few of the books releasing this week. Will you be picking any of them up?
